Diablo Lake Overlook
Easy access is what exemplifies this overlook along the North Cascades loop. Surrounded by soaring peaks with glaciers in the Ross Lake National Recreation Area, Diablo Lake Overlook is a must-stop attraction along Highway 20. It’s right off the street and has ample parking, restrooms, and a covered picnic shelter. Interpretive signs filled with geological and historical tidbits are placed throughout, and the views are magnificent.
Diablo Lake’s turquoise waters are the product of glacier-ground rock silt, which can be carried down from these mountains by flows. This sediments reacts with light to give the lake its bluish-green hue. There is no better location than Diablo Lake Overlook to photos of this scene.
